What It Costs

What it costs

For sellers, nothing. No fee, no commission, no charge of any kind. Here is exactly how the money works, including the parts where we get paid.

Working through the numbers behind a business sale

Free for sellers, in every scenario

Whether we buy your business ourselves, introduce you to a buyer from our network, or simply tell you the timing is wrong, you never pay us. There is no consultation fee, no valuation charge, and no percentage taken from your proceeds.

This is the structural difference between us and a broker. A broker's fee comes out of your sale price. Our revenue never does.

How a direct offer is priced

When we buy a business, the offer is built from the owner's actual earnings: what the business produces after a fair market salary for the work you do in it. Main-street businesses typically sell for a multiple of that number, with the multiple rising or falling on factors like customer concentration, lease length, staff depth, and how dependent the business is on you personally.

We show you the math. You will see the earnings figure we used, the multiple we applied, and why. If your accountant wants to walk through it, we welcome that. An offer you cannot verify is an offer you should not accept, from us or anyone.

How we make money

When we buy, we profit by owning and operating the business after you leave. Our return comes from running it well, not from fees charged to you.

When we introduce another buyer and a sale closes, that buyer may pay us a referral fee. The fee comes from the buyer's side of the table. It never reduces your price, and we disclose the arrangement before any introduction is made.

The broker route, honestly priced

Business brokers commonly charge a commission in the neighborhood of ten percent on smaller main-street sales, often with a minimum fee, plus months of marketing time. For some businesses, especially larger ones with many natural buyers, that process is worth it and we will say so.

For many Westchester owners, a direct sale or a single vetted introduction produces a comparable net result with far less exposure. The right answer depends on your business, your timeline, and your tolerance for a public process. Tell us about your situation and we will tell you which route we would take in your shoes.
